Fall Fashion Trends (& Affordable Shops)

If you are like me, you associate fall with several things. The first of course being the delicious pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks and second being able to go outside without being drenched in sweat within minutes. The third, and most important, is fall fashion! I love the colors associated with autumn like deep red, forrest green, and burnt orange. Sweaters, jackets, and boots are my favorite items to splurge on so autumn is my favorite season to shop for! It's unfortunate that the chiller (but not freezing) weather only lasts a few short months in New York because I want more time wearing my fall looks.
Here are some of the fall trends I've been noticing in stores and online that I will be wearing;
Plaid! I've seen various plaid pattens in almost every store. Shirts, sweaters, dresses, etc. I just recently bought this sleek trench coat from Charlotte Russe on sale. It's not the highest quality nor is it rainproof but, it's perfect for weather when you need a light jacket. It'll also be great in the spring.
(Faux) Shearling and Teddy coats! I have wanted a teddy, faux fur, suede etc coat since last season but they are such a huge investment and like I stated above, when it drops to 40 or lower I wear my winter coat with everything. Cheaper fashion stores like Shein or Boohoo are perfect for trendy wear because you don't have to spend a fortune to be on trend. It may be a goofy goal, but it is my goal to get one of these coats.
Corduroy! This is probably my favorite fall trend because it makes me nostalgic. I used to wear a lot of corduroy (mostly pink) when I was younger so for it to come back in style in a way cooler way is awesome. I love the look of it in deep colors like red, green, and orange. At the same sale I got my plaid trench coat, I bought this corduroy jacket (shade of orange is darker than the picture shows) that's perfect for layering up a look and throwing on when the weather is that perfect mix between sunny and a bit chilly. It's not too stiff like some corduroy materials can be and is super comfy.
SWEATERS! The ultimate fall staple (and winter) staple. This season I've seen a lot of multi patterns or colors sweaters as well as roll neck, cropped, and fringe detailing. I already picked up a fringed detailed t-shirt sweater from Zara and if my bank account allowed me to, I would pick picking up more of this style because I think it's so cute.
Trend I'm Leery Of: Animal Print! This trend reminds of of my early high school years when Jersey Shore and stores like VS pink influenced my fashion choices. Just look at my sophomore year photo and you'll see just how much I loved that cheetah print. I don't think I am ready to get back into that trend, I think I still need a few more years detox.
What fall trends do you love and which ones are you leery of? As always, boots, sweaters, scarves, etc. are always in fashion but it's fun to incorporate new trends into a fall wardrobe. Hopefully some of these items can be worn into winter or saved for spring (like floral prints or plaid) so you get use of out the clothing for more than a couple months.
Here's to having fun with colder weather fashion before the snow and chill comes and we are all shivering in our puffy coats and gloves!
