Here are the books that kept me captivated this summer!
War Storm by Victoria Aveyard
This was the fourth and last book in the Red Queen Series by Victoria Aveyard. I read Red Queen back in March and I was hooked. It got me back into reading and for that i'm thankful. I want to do a full review of War Storm when I get a chance because I have lot of thoughts on it!
A Court of Thorns and Roses Series and A Court of Frost and Starlight novella by Sarah J Maas
WOAH. That's all I have to say about this trilogy by Sarah J Maas. Feyre's adventure into the world of faeries had me hooked. Although, if you are not wow'ed by the first just wait until you get to the second book...it almost feels like a different series and is by far my favorite in the trilogy. Personally, I would not recommend the novella. Nothing important happens and it ruined most of the main characters for me. It put a bit of a damper on the series as a whole. However, I am looking forward to her spin off series about (I believe) Nesta and Cassian!
Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas
After finishing the ACOTAR series, I was left feeling empty and needed something to fill the void..enter Sarah J Maas's other series, Throne of Glass about an assassin. There are currently five books with the sixth and final coming out this October. I have a love\hate relationship with this series and I definitely think ACOTAR is better BUT, I still enjoyed reading the books and would recommend the series for the twist and turn story as well as great side characters. I am not a big fan of the main character, she is just so....rude and arrogant. I don't know how else to put it. Check out my Empire of Storms review (book five).
These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner
I loved this book. It was exactly what I wanted...something easy to read that was romantic and left me feeling good at the end (after my feeling not so good at the end of Empire of Storms). It's a standalone, however the authors have written a novella and other novels in the same world. This book is about Tarver and Lilac who are stranded on an alien planet after their spaceship crashes and of course, romance and angst ensue. I wish I knew more about the world they are living in but it did not make the story hard to follow, I used my imagination to fill in any minor holes. You have to like SciFi and of course romance. It's a good thing I liked both characters because for 95% of it they are they only ones in the book!
The Selection Series by Kiera Cass
I am way behind on this the bachelor but for the title of princess series, I know (I am behind on a lot of popular series because like stated above I recently got into reading for fun again). I got VERY frustrated with the teenage angst and hormones in this series but I still enjoyed reading all three within a few short days. It's geared towards middle\high school age but as a 22 year old I still had fun reading it so don't let that deter you from picking it up.
The Cruel Prince by Holly Black
Although I read this book mid summer, I think it would be perfect to pick up this autumn. The Cruel Prince is about Jude, a human girl who was raised by faeries. It is hard to describe the rest without spoiling but it is an intriguing and captivating read. I know there is a lot of hype around it and I definitely recommend however, I don't personally feel it 100% lives up to the major hype but I cannot wait till the sequel comes out in January 2019.
The Infernal Devices Series by Cassandra Clare
I ugly cried when I read the conclusion of this series. It hurt but in a good way? My roommate had been recommending this series since the day we met and I finally got around to reading it this summer. This 19th century London fantasy novel has romance, angst, monsters, and great characters. The series is an easy read that's great when you have time to sit back and read nonstop. BTW this series is a prequel to the Mortal Instruments series (Shadowhunters TV show).
FAVORITE READ OF THE SUMMER: A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas
Fall To Read List (so far):
Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas (Out October 2018)
The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
Uprooted by Naomi Novik

The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
What did you read this summer and would you recommend it? What's on your reading list this fall? I am most excited to read the Throne of Glass series conclusion Kingdom of Ash!
