I love Halloween. I especially love dressing up and pretending to be someone else from a different time, era, or reality. While pre-maturely going through costumes on Amazon, I came across a 'Boogie Nights' jumpsuit. It was nothing overly special or expensive. But, I could picture myself in it with feathered hair and tall boots, 'Ladies Night' playing in the background. I immediately went to Pinterest to look up disco era and 70s for inspiration. Pinterest did not fail.

To the left is a picture of Mick Jagger with Bianca Jagger. I wish I was rich and could have someone recreate Bianca's look for me. I mean, the hat to match the dress? Disco inspiration. Also, I love this look at Mick. You can tell how much he influences Harry Style's outfits.

To the right is the iconic Cher and some disco makeup inspiration. If I were to recreate this look, I think i'll need a few trial runs. Also to the right is another disco legend, Donna Summer serving us some more disco looks.

My whole vibe for the night will be Studio 54. If you don't know what Studio 54 was, it was a located in Manhattan (now a theatre), and it was known as the most famous celebrity nightclub. The picture of Bianca and Mick is of them at the nightclub. If I were ever to have a huge birthday party, theres no doubt disco would be the theme. There's just something about the glamour and feel of the disco era that just makes you want to let loose and party.

Inside Studio 54

The celebritiess at Studio 54 definitely did just that, doorman Marc Benecke describes the scene to BBC, "You could hear the pulsating music as you walked through and then you turned left and there was this dance floor. Everybody on that floor had the energy of being a radiant star." (for more on this article click here). Now, I don't think any college party i'll be going to that weekend will be anything like that, but if I close my eyes and pretend hard enough, I might just be a radiant star on that makeshift dance floor.

Here are some playlist suggestions if you wanna be a radiant star on the dance floor too and a gallery of pictures to inspire your evening as well.

  • Ladies Night by Kool and the Gang

  • Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees (honestly any of their songs, More Than a Woman, Night Fever, etc.)

  • If I Can't Have You by Yvonne Elliman

  • Disco Inferno by The Trammps

  • Get Down Tonight by KC and The Sunshine Band

  • September by Earth, Wind, and Fire
